Pear and Garlic Chutney | Easy Chatni Recipe

Pear and Garlic Chutney – One afternoon at office, I got a picture message from Sarita on WhatsApp. Of course I guessed that its Pear chutney, (because of the picture in the background 😉 ) But I had never tasted one. So as soon as I reached home, I headed straight for the chutney. It was tasty. I had it for dinner and stored it in fridge for the next day as well, coz chutneys tastes great when eaten out of fridge and can be stored for 2-3 days.

Pear and Garlic Chutney

Pear and Garlic Chutney

Ingredients

  • Ripe Pears – 2 (peel and cut in medium slice)
  • Tomato – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Green chili – 2 medium (finely chopped)
  • Mustard seeds – 2 tsp
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves (Fresh or Dry) – 6
  • Kaju / Cashew – 10 (stir fried)

Instructions

  1. Put the pan on medium flame and add butter. Once hot, add 2 tsp of mustard seeds and allow them to crackle. Then add curry leaves, garlic paste, green chili and saute once.
  2. Add Pear slices, salt, turmeric powder, chopped tomatos and mix well, cover it for 3 mins on low flame.
  3. Add sugar, ½ cup water and stir fried kaju and sauté them carefully for 5-6 mins.
  4. Serve with chapatti / paratha / rice.
