isn’t it great when we can make something and reuse it for a lot of recipes. poora is one such recipe. you can use it directly or as a filling in a variety of pithas and cakes. poora takes a lot less time and can be stored for a couple of days in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • jaggery (gud) - 1 cup
  • sugar - 1/2 cup
  • grated coconut - 1 cup
  • chenna (fresh cheese) - 2 cup (i have used cheese made from curd)
  • green cardamom - 4 (crushed)

Instructions

  1. take fresh cheese and mash it evenly in a plate.
  2. cut coconut into small pieces and then grind the pieces to form a rough paste.
  3. place a kadai on medium flame, once hot add jaggery and allow it to melt.
  4. add sugar and saute for 2 mins.
  5. add chenna and mix well. let it cook for 5 mins. mix intermittently.
  6. add the grated coconut and mix well. cook for 5 mins
  7. add crushed green cardamom and mix well.
  8. you can have poora with roti or paratha. poora can also be used as filling in parathas, pithas and bread.
  9. you can store poora in fridge once it is cooled down and have it over the next 3-4 days.
