angoor khatta or grapes chutney is a sweet and tangy side dish which is very popular in east India. this recipe marks the right blend of grapes and tamarind to create a flavour which will tease your taste buds :) if you have not tried this before, you should not have second thoughts 😀

angoor khatta recipe follows almost the same process like tomato khatta. the best way to enjoy this grapes chutney is with rice-dal-curry. only 2 tsp of this chutney is enough with a normal meal.

Ingredients

  • Whites grapes - 2 bowl
  • Tamarind - 1 tbsp
  • Dry red chili - 2
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 5 to 8
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch (paste)
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp
  • Peanut oil / sun flower oil - 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. soak tamarind with half cup warm water for 5 mins and after that mash it with hand and strain by a strainer.
  2. After soaking tamarind, wash all grapes and cut them into half.
  3. Put a pan on medium flame and saute cumin seeds and 1 dry chili for 2 mins. Grind this into a powder and keep it aside in a bowl.
  4. Now add peanut oil to the pan. Once hot, add 1 tbsp of mustard seeds and 1 dry chili. Allow the seeds to crackle. Then add curry leaves and saute for a min.
  5. Add grapes cuttings, salt, ginger paste and tamarind water. mix well and cover it for 5 mins on low flame.
  6. Add sugar and saute them for 2 mins on medium flame. Add the cumin seeds and chili grind powder and saute for a min. turn off the flame and cover the pan for 2 mins.so that the flavor of the roast powder will mix with grapes chutney.
  7. enjoy this grapes chutney with paratha / dal-chabal / roti.
